Mr. E – class of 2017 – a MN History Center senior session

It was such fun this spring to have a senior session with this remarkable young man.

He’s a classmate and friend of my oldest son, and it’s a little bit amazing to me that they’re both old enough already to be high school graduates!

We spent part of a morning at the Minnesota History Center in St Paul.  It has cool views of the city skyline as well as some pretty impressive architecture inside.

And here’s the one that was probably the most challenging for me.  Do you have any idea how hard it is to get the city in reflective sunglasses, but not yourself as the photographer??  Fortunately, he was patient and a good sport!

Thanks, E, for a really fun session, and congratulations on your graduation!  Best wishes as you head out into your next adventure!

L&R- a kid session at Union Depot, St Paul

This spring, I had the fun of photographing these two darling kids at Union Depot in St Paul:

It was an interesting morning, and several things didn’t go quite as planned…  the main part of the building was roped off for a private event, and there were lots of things going on that limited where we could shoot in the building, and the toddler wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to cooperate…  so we got some practice with improvising!  But it was fun, and I think we got some cute photos anyway!

L is quite the big brother, and he could get smiles out of R when I couldn’t!

…and sometimes you get the cutest photos when the toddler refuses to look at the camera!

(They’re tickling each other!)

We pulled mom into a few photos.  In this one, I asked them all to jump.  You can just see little R thinking, “Why in the world are you two doing what she says?!?”  I love the look on her face!

Thanks so much, L & R, for a fun time getting to know you and capturing your sweet faces!

Baby E ~ newborn family session

This sweet little girl was born in December, and so she got to be my final session for 2016!  That also meant Christmassy photos of her family:

What a fun way to end the year!

I was also lucky enough to take a few more photos just a few weeks later, because her mom agreed to a mini session so I could test a couple of new backdrops.  Here she is at about 2 months old:

Welcome to the world, little E!  I look forward to seeing you and your doting big sister and brother in front of my camera again before too long!

The C family–French Regional Park extended family session

I’m almost caught up on blog posts from last fall’s sessions!  I got delayed by needing to move my life from my old computer to a new one–that was a bigger project than I’d hoped!  But I’m back now and ready to show you this fun extended family session I had with the C family at French Regional Park.

Here’s everybody:  Grandma and Grandpa, their two kids and spouses, and four grandkids.

Of course we needed photos of each of the sub-groups too…

…and since these photos were mostly for Grandma, we focused especially on her beloved grandchildren!

Thanks to all of you–I enjoyed spending the morning with you!

The P family – a back yard fall photo shoot

I’m nearly to the end of my sessions from last fall–finally!  I meant to wrap them up sooner, but then we hit spring break and I decided to hang out with my kids instead of putting any time into my blog.  🙂

The mom and dad of this family have been friends with my husband and me since before either pair of us had any kids.  They now live far enough away that we hardly ever get to see them, so it was a treat to spend an afternoon with them creating new family photos!

They have a lovely big back yard, and I think the trees were nearly at peak color the day I was there.

I thought their weeping willow tree made an interesting photo backdrop (above)!

Thanks so much, friends!  I look forward to the next time!  🙂

French Regional Park – the H family session

After burying myself in a house project for a few weeks, I’m finally emerging to update my poor neglected blog again!

I had the joy of photographing this family last fall at Clifton E French Regional Park in Plymouth, MN.  We had a lovely morning and some pretty autumn colors–and of course awesome people to work with!

Thanks so much, H family, for asking me to create these photos with you!  It was fun! 🙂

Fall family session, Silverwood Park, St Anthony MN

Here’s another session from my busy October, as I’m getting caught up on blogging!

I met these three because they won a gift certificate I donated to a silent auction fundraiser at the daughter’s school.

They chose beautiful Silverwood Park in St Anthony for their shoot, and I enjoyed spending an hour or so there with them.

This one was so fun and full of life–can you tell?  I have photos of her climbing trees, too!

Thanks so much to this delightful family–I’m glad I got to meet you!

Fall family session – Theodore Wirth Park, Minneapolis

I have another fun family session from the fall to share with you today!

We had a good day for photos with lots of pretty fall colors… Theo Wirth Park is always a great place to shoot in.

The girls were great, and we even got to mix grandparents in on some of the photos.

And of course, a shot of just mom and dad together. 🙂

Thanks to this lovely family for a great session!  Hope to see you in front of my camera again soon!

The K family–a fall Minneapolis session

I had the fun of photographing this family in the fall in a park near my home in Minneapolis.  It’s always great to get to meet more neighbors!

We played in the leaves, and she collected lots of dandelions!

Of course, we needed photos of just mom and dad, too.

… doesn’t she have gorgeous brown eyes?

Miss J, class of 2017 – Mill City, Minneapolis

Hello!  I took a break for the holidays, but now that we’re halfway through January, I think it’s high time I worked on getting my last few 2016 sessions on the blog!

This one was a super fun high school senior.  We met by the Mill City museum but walked all over, up to the top of Gold Medal Park and by the Guthrie Theater and down toward the Stone Arch Bridge.  There are so many interesting places for photographs in that area!

She had so much energy, I compared her to Tigger–which got a laugh, because apparently that had been a nickname when she was younger.  😀

She’s a gymnast too, so we had to try some jumping photos.  The hill at Gold Medal was perfect for this!

Thanks, J, for trusting me with your senior photos, and for such a fun session.  I loved working with you, and I wish you all the best as you graduate this spring and launch into college next fall!
